Sunny Skies and Happy Times

There is something miraculous about sun. Even if things are going great -but especially when they're not -10 seconds in the heat, and you're suddenly feeling completely renewed. It makes me wonder why I live in the part of the world that I do. But then again, the snow has it's wonder too.

Sun Sun Sun SUn SUN SUNNN SUNNNNNNNNNNNN

I am finished with assignments and essays and bullshitting, and am now onto exams, which I surprisingly am not in the least bit worried about. Memorize a bunch of someone else's ideas and spew them back out 3 hours at a time. Blah Blah Blah. In the mean time, however, the real learning happens:

Garlic Rosemary Foccacia!

Mmmm... I've never made flatbread before, and have also never used rosemary! What a wonderful smell/taste. We had a solid time watching this bread come to life, and an even better time eating it afterwards, still warm from the oven with veggie soup.

But that particular Wednesday could not have ended at just that. It was too nice out, too happy in, and too inspired a day to stop there. While we were waiting for the dough to rise, we decided to try another untouched recipe... Chocolate Orange Biscotti! This double-baked cookie is too scrumptious on its own, and even better when dipped in coffee. So we lifted our pinkies, and made a night out of it...

Coffee, Biscotti, and Cribbage.

Good food, good music, good friends. Words to live your life by.

  1. Love all the new types of bread you're trying, the focaccia looks amazing :)

Have you tried making a sourdough starter yet? That's my next project... it takes a bit of work because you have to babysit the starter for a couple of days (Anthony Bourdain's words on the matter: "Feed the bitch... or she will DIE), but I think it would be worth the trouble.
